Why SDS PAGE electrophoresis must be performed vertically and not horizontal as DNA gels?

Agar is a natural homopolymer that resolves on the basis of pore density. Its a weak gel that collapses on its own density of casted vertically. Acrylamide gels on the other hand are cross-linked heteropolymers that are very strong ( based on cross linker%)
