I recently came across studies showing that some proteins can form unusual NOS linkages under oxidative stress. It’s interesting because these bonds might change how cysteine or methionine behave during oxidation. Has anyone looked into whether these NOS bonds actually protect proteins from oxidative damage or just alter their reactivity?
