Facing Contamination in Hydroponic Nutrient Media—Any Quick Fix?

Hello Everyone,

I’m working on a small hydroponic setup to compare nutrient uptake in leafy greens. Despite sterilizing containers, my nutrient solution keeps getting cloudy after 3–4 days.

Could anyone suggest simple, practical steps to prevent microbial contamination in hydroponic media without adding harsh chemicals?

Thanks

I am just guessing but if it is 3-4 days , and if you can check under the microscope it should be a fungus. If this is so, again two ways out, seems the explant itself is the source.Though still believe it is not the method too but cannot deny, So again two things, review your method and may be surface sterilise the explant too and see if it still gets cloudy. If not this was the source and if it does still the method is the source.

Worst try adding a natural inhibitor like haldii (turmeric) in small quantities .Ultimately the source has to be identified and then you can work on cleaning the source.

Want you to not panic and identify the organism and the source first then work on the ways out gradually.

HOPE THIS HELPS.
