This one is a little personal but I want to seek your help or expertise or experience if any one has about it.
Does anyone has information regarding the inflammation of Hip Joints in young kids about 3 yrs old. My little one started mildly limping about 10 days back and it has become worse since. Today he could barely stand with both legs. His left leg/joint is impacted and there are no other visible symptoms like fever, rash or redness etc. We’ve consulted pediatric Orthopedics but it hasn’t improved so far and we had to take him to a major hospital today. For now the Dr. has adviced rest and put him on Mefanimic Acid dose.
I would appreciate any insights or advices, if you could provide.
If your child got a recent MMR vaccine it might be worth discussing this with a rheumatologist or a doctor who can look into this. This is though more for women than for children. It must be hard for you hope it sorts out soon. Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) Vaccine Safety | Vaccine Safety | CDC
Thank you so much for the answer. His last MMR was almost an year back and we can rule that out. He underwent MRI for leg, Spine and Hip joints today and We are awaiting reports. Blood test is again normal without any sign of inflammation based on CRP. Lymphocyte count is marginal low… but still borderline.
An Update: He is recovering Well. His MRI was normal for Leg, Hip and the Spinal Scan. Ultimate diagnosis was inflammatory Synovitis and Covid Virus current variant is causing it in children up to 12yrs and is very common.
He’s been on Mefanimic Acid for past few days and is showing marked changes in movement and posture.
Thanks @Sounderya, @Suhasini and Everyone else who poured in their support through PM and reached out directly.
Exactly something like this happened with the son of a friend of mine. His twins got MMR and then his son became autistic while the daughter remained normal.
He strongly suspected this with MMR vaccination but it never went ahead nor was he able to reverse that. Tough state.
Sorry to hear about the case must be hard.
I have noticed adverse reports on joint inflammation after vaccination but I cannot comment about vaccination and autism relation as I have not seen evidence to support it.
An Update to the original issue: Transient synovitis is common in young kids in the post Covid era and it returned as a milder version in the young kids this year. Im also receiving a lot of reports where adults are under a more severe form this year.
